Exceptional solution to increase corrosion resistance Anti-friction treatment

Nicasil Antifriction, our nickel layer sealed with a special additive, offers an exceptional solution for increasing corrosion resistance, maintaining surface hardness and reducing the friction coefficient. The intrinsic characteristics of this anti-friction treatment are divided into two main aspects.

  1. First, the anti-friction aspect: the nickel layer obtained through the Nicasil Process has a surface hardness of 500-550 HV 100, which can be further increased up to approximately 1000 HV 100 with a specific heat treatment. If a constant roughness is maintained (e.g. Ra 0,8 my), by applying an anti-friction sealant via emulsion, it is possible to significantly reduce the friction coefficient.
  2. Second, the anti-corrosion aspect: corrosion resistance is fundamental for metal components subject to contact with aggressive agents. Thanks to the Nicasil Antifriction treatment, a notable increase in corrosion resistance of the order of 20% is achieved compared to standard nickel plating (with sealant applied in a 30% aqueous emulsion).

To fully understand the characteristics of the anti-friction treatment, we can compare it with a widely used system, such as Cheniflon (or nickel teflon). While both have a very low friction coefficient, similar to that of Nicasil Antifriction, Cheniflon has a lower surface hardness, in the order of 250-300 HV 100, which can reach a maximum of 400-425 HV 100 with one treatment thermal (using 8% PTFE by weight).

Unlike Nicasil Antifriction, Cheniflon offers no increase in corrosion resistance over standard nickel plating.
